Greetings readers,
Just thought I’d briefly mention to any body who’s passionate about writing that Writing East Midlands has opened a scheme for those based in the East Midlands who have got written projects in the works.
This may be a great opportunity for those pursuing a career in writing. To be eligible, one must be residing in the East Midlands, whether that be Leicestershire (my home county), Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire or Lincolnshire. Also, writers have to be earning a low income – if one’s wondering how low the income must be, I’m sure WEM can provide the details, and the scheme’s accepting extracts from books, short stories and poems. There is a limit on how many words you can submit for each of the following;
For books, it’s a maximum of 15k words
Poems – 150 lines
Short stories – 5k words
Apologies for those who’ve thought about sending film scripts.
I know I’ve written scripts mostly, but I shall be entering since I do have a book in the works. So far, I’ve written over 15k words, but I’m also giving my first few chapters a re-edit. I am confident that I should be able to get it done before the deadline.
Speaking of which, the scheme is currently open for applications, but the deadline is 4th December. So that will give applicants over a month.
If you have any questions, the details of the website are down below where you can find the contact details. I realise that I may have missed some information about this scheme, but this link should explain a lot.
Good luck!
