Yesterday was that time of year when the eve of Lent had just begun; many households celebrated by manufacturing pancakes, and some people planned to give up something for Lent, sometimes eating that particular food product for the last time until Easter. After all, as the Bible stated, Jesus Christ consumed his final piece of bread and glass of wine before he fasted. Of course, this tradition does seem beneficial for health reasons and so forth. Admittedly, I did mean to serve some pancakes yesterday. Still, I got caught up in a writer’s related meeting, straight after work. There was always tonight.
Speaking of which, this brings us to Ash Wednesday, which we had today; the time when some of us are like, “okay, starting from today, no more (insert name of food product(s)), or doing (insert activity), until Easter.” This year, I’d not planned to give up anything in particular. The reason is that I’d not got round to planning that sort of thing. I got caught up with a few work/routine-related duties. On the other hand, I do plan to cut down on what and how much I consume. This intention follows a recent blood test following a few illnesses I experienced. I await the results from my local medical centre, which I’ll receive next week. Still, their advice may involve specific nutritional standards. So, I may need to take those steps. It’s hard to sacrifice foods one loves, but I might have to anyway.
Tomorrow concludes a triple celebration, and I recently found out: tomorrow’s World Book Day – the time of year when most kids stroll to school dressed up as some of the characters from their favorite literary sources. This day, in particular, speaks to me. You may have seen in my Upcoming Projects page and/or one of the previous blogs that I’m writing a children’s book – Sian Reynolds and The Sunstone Chronicles.

Some of you might be thinking, for someone who writes scripts, why am I writing a piece of children’s literature? One of my goals has long been to write something (film or otherwise) aimed at children. Because I studied Creative Writing and interacted with fellow writers who specialise in literature, those have inspired me to give that a go. I consider myself a diverse person, not just when it comes to the media but in general. I also speak as a Canadian-born guy with Asperger’s Syndrome who has interacted co-operatively with people from various cultures. With this book I’m writing, I’m currently writing the 12th chapter, roughly halfway through the story. I illustrated the picture displayed above. However, I’d welcome any illustrators who would like to collaborate. I’m also considering alternative titles for the book and even working on a short film spin-off (see Upcoming Projects page). In addition, I sometimes imagine what it would be like if my book was adapted into a feature film.
Before I end there, I will experience some reasonably busy months ahead. The next few posts will likely be brief yet to the point. A few articles are yet to be finished, but not at a specific deadline. I mention this, because I’ve got an exam coming up for a course that I plan to take shortly.
But in the meantime, Happy Shove Tuesday for yesterday, Happy Ash Wednesday for today, and Happy World Book Day for tomorrow!
